The Helwan suburb is located thirty kilometers from the heart of Cairo, east of the Nile River, about four kilometers away from its bank, and about forty meters above sea level.

Helwan is known for its dry atmosphere and a humidity percentage that does not exceed 58%. The area is also home to several mineral and sulfur springs, which contribute to the exceptional purity and therapeutic benefits of the local environment.

In 1999, the Helwan Sulfur Center for Rheumatism and Natural Medicine was established in an elegant Arab-Islamic style. The center features 38 rooms for treatment with sulfur water, rest rooms, and chalets for patients to stay just steps away from the treatment areas, all surrounded by beautiful gardens.
